As many know, the National Football League is constantly changing, and many daily transactions occur that may go unnoticed.
NFL Communications notified media members of everything that occurred Sunday. The four-page document detailed all the latest news, from waiver requests and free agent signings to reserve list additions, active list additions and tryouts.
The most notable transaction was Aaron Donald being added under the tryouts section, as it was reported he worked out with the Rams for the second time this summer.
Since early June, there’s been speculation that Donald is interested in coming out of retirement to rejoin the Rams and help disrupt offensive fronts alongside two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, who was traded to the Rams in early June.
Donald was drafted No. 13 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the then-St. Louis Rams. Donald then played 10 seasons with the Rams before retiring in March 2024. He became one of the best defensive players in the league, achieving great stats and accolades.
Donald won a Super Bowl title, three AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards (2017, 2018, 2020), had 10 Pro Bowl selections, and eight first-team All-Pro honors.
Only Donald and those close to him know when his decision will be finalized, but if Donald comes out of retirement, it would be very beneficial for the Rams, and a second workout with the organization could be very telling.
The NFL enters Week 3 of the preseason from Aug. 20-23. The preseason is only played for four weeks, ending a day before the Aug. 30 deadline when teams are required to trim their rosters from 90 players to 53.
Despite the roster deadline being around the corner and the Rams taking the field in 24 days, head coach Sean McVay is not rushing Donald’s decision. Per ESPN, McVay says he won’t put an “invisible deadline” on Donald’s choice but hopes he makes a decision “sooner than later.”
