Former LSU standout guard Flau’Jae Johnson had one of the best rookie campaigns among the 2026 WNBA class.
Johnson created a lane of her own and etched her name in WNBA history with the Seattle Storm, becoming the first player in league history to record at least 600 points, 200 rebounds, 100 assists, 50 steals, and 28 blocks in a single debut campaign.
Johnson’s rookie campaign was highlighted by breaking multiple franchise and league marks, surpassing Breanna Stewart’s previous Seattle rookie points record with 626 total points.
Johnson’s efforts led her to receive 2026 AP All-Rookie Team honors, joining a group of other talented rookies such as Olivia Miles (Minnesota Lynx), Azzi Fudd (Dallas Wings), Sydney Taylor (Chicago Sky), Pauline Astier (New York Liberty), and Kiki Rice (Toronto Tempo).
Despite the Storm’s season falling short of postseason hopes, the future is bright in Seattle as the team returns a talented rookie like Johnson. The Storm feature one of the youngest and most promising core groups in the WNBA, anchored by first- and second-year talent.
Johnson, alongside centers Dominique Malonga and Awa Fam, guards Natisha Hiedeman and Jade Melbourne, and forward Jordan Horston, could form a special group next season. The team has the talent, and if it is integrated effectively, it could become a force.
