The Milwaukee Brewers' pitching was the driving force behind the 2-1 victory over the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night.
Although they won, they didn't score first, thanks to Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages' RBI single in the top of the second. The Brewers would respond with Brice Turang's first postseason homer this year in the bottom of the fourth inning to knot the score at one.
The Brewers didn't wait long to take the lead: in the bottom of the fifth, rookie Luis Lara singled up the middle to score Garrett Mitchell and take a 2-1 lead. The score held, and the Brewers won their first National League Championship Series game since 2018.
On the mound, Jacob Misiorowski led the line with 4 1/3 innings, five strikeouts, and just one run allowed. The Dodgers starter, reigning AL Cy Young Tarik Skubal, was good as well; in five innings, he struck out seven but gave up two earned runs. The Brewers bullpen was excellent as DL Hall, Abner Uribe, Aaron Ashby, and Trevor Megill went the remaining 4 2/3 innings and closed it out.
The Brewers and Dodgers will clash again Monday evening at 4 p.m. CT on FOX.
