Freshman quarterback Jared Curtis is out for Vanderbilt's Week 5 matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs. Curtis was listed as questionable on Friday's SEC injury report and was a game-time decision 90 minutes before kickoff.

Curtis had been limited in practice all week with an undisclosed lower-body injury. The freshman has started the previous two games for the Commodores, posting 746 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions on the season thus far, Saturday's road game against the No. 2 Bulldogs was highly anticipated, as Curtis would have faced a familiar presence in the Bulldogs.

Curtis was a consensus five-star recruit, the No. 1 quarterback and a top-five overall prospect nationally in the 2026 recruiting class. He committed to Georgia twice during his recruiting process: first on March 23, 2024, and a second time on May 5, 2025, before ultimately flipping his commitment to Vanderbilt on Dec. 2, 2025

The Nashville native signed as the highest-rated recruit in program history, giving the Commodores a rare win in what was a long, Georgia-dominated series.

With Georgia leading the all-time series 61-20 and the addition of Curtis, the SEC matchup was one of the most talked-about games of the week. The last time the two met, the Bulldogs defeated the Commodores 37-20 in the 2023 season.

With Curtis sidelined, the Commodores will look to Blaze Berlowitz, who started the season before Curtis took command on Sept. 15. Berlowitz secured wins against Austin Peay and Delaware this season, but after struggling, Curtis took over in the 35-26 win against the Blue Hens in Week 2.

According to the Nashville Tennessean, Berlowitz briefly explored a move to wide receiver but has practiced more at quarterback over the past week due to Curtis' injury.

Vanderbilt and Georgia are set to kick off at 12:45 p.m. ET at Sanford Stadium.
