Caleb Woodson transferred to Alabama for the 2026 season after playing three seasons at Virginia Tech. The veteran linebacker has been a significant addition to an Alabama defense that has proven difficult for most opponents.

Woodson stood out early in the offseason, earning a starting role in Kane Wommack's top-notch defense. He has proved exactly why he was the man for the job, leading the Crimson Tide with 30 tackles thus far.

Before transferring to Alabama, Woodson recorded 151 total tackles, two sacks and one interception over three seasons with the Hokies. On Saturday, he recorded his second career interception—and first with Alabama—during the third quarter of the Crimson Tide's early dominating performance over Mississippi State.

The turnover gave the ball back to Keelon Russell and company, who capitalized on the play with an 8-yard rushing touchdown by freshman running back Trae'shawn Brown, his second rushing touchdown of the game.

The turnover extended Alabama's lead to 42-17, allowing the Crimson Tide to control the remainder of the game.
