TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — No. 6 Alabama and No. 2 Georgia face off this Saturday in a top-10 college football showdown at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The highly anticipated matchup has dominated headlines this week, with ESPN's College GameDay coming to town to provide live coverage ahead of the SEC showdown.

College GameDay is famous for its three-hour pre-game show on ESPN that airs live on a different college campus each week, bringing fan bases together for early-morning football coverage and festivities for some of the biggest college football games across the country.

Additionally, the show always features a guest picker, typically someone who has ties to the home team, and this year, GameDay nailed the selection by announcing that former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young will be the guest picker for Alabama-Georgia.

Young was a member of the Crimson Tide for three seasons and won the starting job for the 2021 season. While at Alabama, Young became one of the most decorated quarterbacks in program history. In his inaugural season, he collected awards like infinity stones, winning the Maxwell Award, Davey O'Brien Award, Manning Award, AP & Sporting News College Football Player of the Year, SEC Offensive Player of the Year, was named a Consensus All-American, and became the first Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy and the fourth player to do so in program history. Additionally, Young earned 2021 SEC Championship MVP honors after setting a game record with 421 passing yards and 461 total yards of offense in a 41-24 victory over Georgia.

In his final season with the Crimson Tide, Young earned the 2022 Sugar Bowl MVP award and second-team All-America honors before being drafted as the No. 1 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Young's return to Alabama as the guest picker on Saturday is fitting, not only because of the mark he left at the Capstone, but also because of his history with the Bulldogs, against whom he holds a 1-1 career record.

Furthermore, Young will appear alongside his former coach, Nick Saban, who joined the Gameday crew after retiring from coaching in 2024.

College Gameday will be live at 8:00 a.m. CT for those wanting to tune in. Fans wishing to attend the show will have the opportunity to do so, as doors open at 5:30 a.m. at Coleman Coliseum.
